Illinois American water did work on a sewer line for the property directly behind me. In the process of the work they destroyed my new cedar privacy fence, breaking pieces of it as they removed three sections. Before hand, the foreman of the crew promised me they would replace and fix anything they removed or damaged, after the fact refused to fix any of it. I contacted my Alderman and also the city inspector who came out and looked at the property, but was powerless to produce any results. I ended up putting three sections back up myself also ended up with a large sinkhole on my property that Currently has never been fixed. It is my opinion that Illinois American water is a poor business to deal with and unethical in their construction practices.

My water bill has more than tripled not only since moving to Granite City but since they've taken over the sewer portion as well that bill has quadrupled in price with no extra Services being rendered. And I just witnessed one of their trucks driving around town with expired plates from 2023 all that money they're getting and they're not responsible enough to even keep their tags updated. Disappointing. They could at least try and be professional.

My daughter’s water was shut off for nonpayment. I called to pay the bill and reinstate service. The customer service rep was rude and condescending. I couldn’t believe it. With the current heat wave and drought and she has a small child, this is very bad business. She couldn’t tell me when the water would be turned back on. Shame on the female rep and your company.

The most unprofessional company I’ve ever did any business with, the lady who answered the phone was useless (jasmine) they shut the water off for no reason even though our bill was paid in full we call to see what’s going on they tell us there is no reason our water should be shut off and that they would have someone out within an hour waited for 2 and a half hours call back and they tell us that they won’t be able to get someone out here til 7am the next morning even though nothing was our fault I get off work the next day and still no water they tell us that someone needed to be here to turn the water off which she didn’t mention the day before so I tell them we need it turned on immediately today and they told us they don’t schedule anything for the rest of the day at 2 o’clock I guess they like letting little kids go without water or a shower the most unprofessional customer service I’ve ever received and then try to make it seem like it’s your fault your waters off. If your ever considering doing business with these people please go somewhere else or to a different location these people are no help and could care less about you.

My bill was due November 9th of $190. They cut my water off today. I have 3 small children and a disable person here. It is a National Pandemic going on. I've lived here 8yrs and this never happened before. I owed only a past due from last month and was paying it before the 9th which is included in the $190. ABSOLUTELY NO DISCONNECT NOTICES OR ANYTHING ON BILL SAYING IF PAST DUE OF $132 isn't paid before due date; water services would be shut off.

Water turned off (to apartment, water included in rent) with no notice (to tenants) or way of contacting the company directly. This is the THIRD time they’ve done this in the past five years. Customer service claims they notified the landlord but can’t let the people who LIVE HERE know ahead of time that our water is going to be shut off… I pay my rent, I should be guaranteed to have water, this is ridiculous! At least give me a way of directly paying you so you don’t shut off my water.
