WARNING: Avoid Rongitsch Construction at All Costs!
Our experience with Rongitsch Construction was nothing short of a nightmare. Entrusting our home remodel to this company, led by Mike Rongitsch, was one of the worst decisions we’ve ever made. Here’s a brief overview of our ordeal:
Mike Rongitsch delegated our project to his 20-year-old son, Nate Rongitsch, who clearly lacked the necessary experience. Unauthorized change orders were made without our consent. Wrong window sizes were ordered, and mismatched millwork stains were used. The fireplace stonework was subcontracted to an unqualified individual from Craigslist, resulting in poor craftsmanship with visible cuts and shadow lines.
The tile backsplash was so poorly executed that it had to be completely ripped out and redone. I found myself having to assist with removing the backsplash and redoing the electrical boxes. When the correct windows were finally installed, new siding was needed, which I had to source and paint myself.
Both Mike and Nate exhibited bullying behavior, especially towards my wife, threatening to handle things “the easy way or the hard way” and falsely claiming they financed our project. They refused to take responsibility for their numerous mistakes and instead blamed us.
Furthermore, Rongitsch Construction has a notorious reputation for not paying their subcontractors. We had to pay several subs directly to avoid liens on our home, and we even had to hire an attorney to navigate the lien issues. Every subcontractor we spoke with confirmed Rongitsch’s history of non-payment.
Residential projects are clearly not a priority for Rongitsch Construction, which also takes on commercial work. In fact, personal projects, such as Nate’s grandmother’s deck, were given precedence over our remodel.
To top it all off, Nate had a shipping container with our belongings removed without proper notice, which we consider theft. Despite his claims of informing us, we have evidence to the contrary.
Ultimately, we paid Rongitsch Construction to put an end to this horrific experience, but only after enduring extreme unprofessionalism and nastiness from Mike Rongitsch.
In summary, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Rongitsch Construction. This company epitomizes unprofessionalism, poor craftsmanship, and a complete lack of accountability.
